Vancouver, October 3rd, 2014, Pure Energy Minerals Limited (TSXV: PE) (FRANKFURT: AHG) (the “Company” or “Pure Energy”) is very pleased to provide a operational and drilling update on the Company’s lithium brine project situated on the CV/DB claims (the “Property”) located in Clayton Valley, Esmeralda County, Nevada. The 5000 acre Property is located in Esmeralda County, Nevada, and is contiguous with Rockwood Lithium’s producing Silver Peak mine.
Pure Energy, through its operator GeoXplor Corp., has successfully completed the CV-1 lithium brine proto-production well to a depth of 274 m (900 feet), twinning a historically drilled hole, SPD-9, that defined a lithium enriched zone from the 145 m (475 feet) to 317 m ( 1040 feet).
This proto-production well, CV-01, is located 20 m to the south of the historical SPD-9 drill hole. The CV-1 well was cased from the surface to the 274 m level. Perforated casing was installed from the top of the enriched zone to the bottom of the well.
Pure Energy Chief Executive Officer Robert Mintak commented “We are pleased with the successful exploration developments on the Clayton Valley project, the Company’s focus is on rapidly advancing exploration and process development, the successful drilling of the CV-01 proto- production well is the first step towards our goal of producing advanced grade battery materials utilizing environmentally friendly and sustainable practices.”
On site observations confirmed salty ground fluids were intersected at 146 m (480 feet) to 274 m (900 feet) depth, resulting in a minimum intersected interval of 131 m. Total dissolved solids (TDS) and the conductivity were measured onsite at 3 m (10 feet) intervals and confirmed the brine-like composition of the fluids. These fluids are very likely the same as the targeted brines horizon which were identified in the historical hole SPD 9, from 145 –317m depth. A concentration of lithium in these brines was reported at exceeding 200 ppm Li-content. That zone was reported to exist between 145 – 317 m depth (source: http://rodinialithium.com/news/index.php?&content_id=130).
Pump tests and bulk sampling according to the Company’s sampling protocol are underway to determine the overall grade of the lithium brine and define the optimum pumping rates for this type of proto-production lithium brine well. The CV-1 well will be utilized for hydrological testing of the brine field, assist in determining lithium brine reserves and bulk sampling of brine for analysis and mineral recovery process testing. Permitting is being initiated for the development of two additional brine wells in the CV/DB claim block
Pure Energy has an option agreement with GeoXplor Corp., a privately owned entity, to acquire a 100% interest in the 5,000 acres CV/DB lithium brine claims. The CV/DB project is adjacent to the only producing lithium mine in the United States, Rockwood Lithium’s Silver Peak lithium brine mine
15KM to the East of the CV/DB claims, the AF-claims, were tested with one drill hole.
A vertical drill hole AF-1 was completed in bedrock at a depth of 293 m (960 feet). The hole intersected gravels (to 64 m) followed by alternating layers of volcanic mud- and silt-stones (from 64 m to 265 m) and underlain by hydrothermally altered mudstones to a total depth of 293 m, characterization samples were taken and analyses are pending.
